Tasteful: A Celebration of Food, Culture & Creativity

Tasteful: A Celebration of Food, Culture & Creativity

May 5th – June 7th, 2026

Juried by Jeffrey Alvarado of The Last Word in Huntington

The Huntington Arts Council invited artists to participate in Tasteful: A Celebration of Food, Culture & Creativity, a juried exhibition that explores food not just as sustenance—but as allegories and symbols. This show invited artists to reflect on food’s many meanings: joyful, sacred, political, humorous, personal, or shared. We welcome creative works in all visual media that stir the senses and celebrate the universal language of food.

ABOUT THE JUROR: Jeffrey Alvarado is a seasoned hospitality professional with over 20 years of bartending experience. He has spent much of his career in New York City, working behind the bar at renowned cocktail bars such as Bath Tub Gin and Nubeluz. For more than a decade, Alvarado has specialized in cocktail menu development and bar management.

His expertise has led him to play a key role in the opening and consulting of more than 30 bars and restaurants across Long Island and New York City. He credits this to a lifelong passion for cooking and creating unique ingredients.

Jeffrey Alvarado is the owner of The Last Word in Huntington Village, which has been proudly serving guests since September 2021.
