This course is an introduction to the newly popular but centuries old medium of Gouache. The focus of study will be exploring Gouache’s unique artistic properties and how it can be used as a means for discovery both in the studio and in plein air. Due to its fast-drying nature, Gouache allows an artist to develop ideas quickly. A well-planned Gouache study can stand as a finished painting or act as a catalyst for larger works. However the artist chooses to use the medium, Gouache can become yet another tool in the artist’s creative toolbox to help produce confident and lifelike paintings.
This is a Classroom and Plein Air Setting Workshop Focusing On:
Basics of Gouache Paint, Paper, Brushes and Materials
Mixing the Right Color Value, Opacity and Saturation
Using Gouache in the Iteration Process Both in the Studio and Out in the Open Air
Building Confidence Using Gouache as a Medium to Capture the Texture and Feel of The Plein Air Environment
