Folk Music Society of Huntington & Cinema Arts Centre present Hard Luck Cafe: Scott Cook in Concert

October 16 @ 7:00 pm - 10:00 pm

Cost:

20$ – 25$

Scott Cook, an award-winning Canadian prairie roots balladeer, will be the featured artist during the monthly Hard Luck Café concert series co-presented by the Folk Music Society of Huntington and the Cinema Arts Centre (423 Park Avenue, Huntington) in the Cinema’s Sky Room Cafe on Wednesday, October 16, from 7-10 p.m. The internationally touring, Edmonton, Alberta-based troubadour will be joined by Pamela Mae on upright bass and backing vocals. An open mic, for which sign-up starts at 6:30 p.m., precedes the concert. Tickets are $25 ($20 for Cinema Arts Centre/FMSH members) and can be purchased online at cinemaartscentre.org or at the box office through the evening of the event.

A straight-talking, keenly observant singer-songwriter, Cook delves in folk, roots, blues, soul and country, and accompanies himself on fingerstyle guitar and clawhammer banjo. Prior to the pandemic, he had been playing an average of more than 150 shows and a dozen festivals annually since 2007. Since January 2022, he’s been back on the road full-time, living in a campervan named Roadetta with his sweetheart Pamela Mae. They have visited 43 sates and eight Canadian provinces, in addition to broadcasting solar-powered livestreams from the back of the van. Among his many accolades, Cook was chosen by attendees at the 2019 Falcon Ridge Folk Festival as the artist “Most Wanted to Return” following his performance in that year’s Falcon Ridge/Grassy Hill Emerging Artist Showcase. More information on Cook, along with a few videos, may be found online at scottcook.net.
