Views of the World is solo show of recent mixed media prints and paintings that have been completed by Sydell Glasser over the last eighteen months. The work will be on display at the Harborfields Public Library from March 3-29th, with an opening reception at the library on Saturday, March 7th from 1-3pm. The images in this exhibition mark a pivotal shift in Sydell Glasser’s approach to landscape. Her recent body of monotypes and paintings are constructed by adding textiles, found materials, and collage pieces from rejected prints into the final images. By blending natural references with emotional and tactile abstraction, Sydell’s work invites audiences to experience diverse environments not just as places, but as vessels for memory, identity, and wonder.
“Feeling a sense of awe and humility against the forces of nature has repeatedly given me a grounding sense of perspective, inspiration for my work, and is something I strive to share with my audience. The notion that nothing is permanent, that even the earth is moving beneath our feet, has allowed me to gain perspective while the world around me is rapidly changing. This recent body of work has become a personal narrative about the times of triumph and difficult times in my life. Through monotype and material experimentation, I seek to create prints that invite curiosity, contemplation, and a renewed way of seeing, offering moments of beauty and grounding.”
