SUMMARY:Oyster Bay Music Festival presents The Romantics: Musical Drama for the Ages
DESCRIPTION:Between June 27 through July 4\, the Oyster Bay Music Festival will present 12 completely different concert programs in 9 charming venues along the Gold Coast of Long Island. Each OBMF concert is a variety show featuring a diverse range of musical repertoire from a performing cast of around 25 musicians – including vocalists\, pianists\, strings and wind players. The talent pool includes world-class musicians with international reputations\, and local classical music stars. Every performance exudes both professionalism and joy\, telling a story uplifted by a genuine love for music felt by everyone in the room. \nThursday\, June 27 7-9pm – The Romantics: Musical Drama for the Ages at Unitarian Universalist Congregation at Shelter Rock\nOBMF presents a concert filled with musical drama and unbridled passion of the Romantic Era – with a few hints of a new modern sound to come. The varied program includes Glinka’s emotional Trio Pathétique for bassoon\, clarinet\, and piano; dramatic opera arias from the popular OBMF Singers; music by Brahms\, Schumann\, and Fanny Mendelssohn; the Dutilleux Flute Sonatine; and Kreisler’s Tambourin Chinois played on the erhu.

SUMMARY:Dance Visions NY presents “Rising Up”
DESCRIPTION:Dance Visions NY is delighted to present a new and unique program on the grounds of the Universalist Unitarian Congregation Shelter Rock (UUCSR) in collaboration with the organization. Grounded in contemporary movements for social justice\, the program includes a new work addressing bodily autonomy entitled “Dialogue\, Isadora Duncan’s groundbreaking\, dynamic work of strength and optimism created to the 3rd movement of Tchaikovsky’s Pathetique Sonata #6 (circa 1916)\, “From a Distant Past Part 1″\, a new manifestation of the 1st section of our poem-based dance theater piece developed over the course of several years with themes of cyclic worlds\, and a revision from our pivotal work “Through the Portals” with themes of establishing identity. In addition we will present new dances created to songs in collaboration with “Willow\,” an interfaith women’s choir. The program includes original\, timely and meaningful dance\, music\, poetry and theatre. It expresses the climate of our times and is performed by excellent\, diverse artists in a beautiful\, historical outdoor setting.\nThis program is made possible with funds from the Statewide Community Regrant Program\, a regrant program of the New York State Council on the Arts with the support of the Office of the Governor and the New York State Legislature and administered by The Huntington Arts Council\, Inc.
