SUMMARY:Huntington Community Band - Concert 3 - Oral Traditions
DESCRIPTION:July 13\, 2022 – Concert 3 – Oral Traditions The Huntington Community band presents a program that draws upon the rich stories\, songs and music that are the hallmarks of the American oral tradition. The concert will include a pre-concert performance at 6:45pm by the Huntington Chamber Choir under the direction of Judy Leopold as well as combined pieces with the HCB. Also presented will be folk music handed down through the oral tradition as well as modern music with band vocalization. The featured guest conductor will be Walt Whitman High School School Band Director\, Matthew Hoffman. \nBring folding chairs or large blankets. HCB Concert begins at 8:00PM. DESCRIPTION:July 6\, 2022 – Concert 2 – Kids Night Out\nThe Huntington Community Band celebrates all things kids! Our young friends will hear music from Harry Potter\, Star Wars\, Casey at Bat\, and a staple of children’s concerts across the country\, Peter and the Wolf. HCB’s loyal audience will also be treated to a special performance of “Old Grumbly Bear” featuring Tim Eckstrum on tuba.\nThe Kids Night Out concert will also feature the winner of the first annual HCB Student Solo Competition. This winning senior represents one of the many talented student musicians across the town of Huntington!\nIn addition\, one lucky young audience member will get the chance to conduct the band in a fan favorite march: On the Mall! The featured guest conductor will be Stimson Middle School Band Director\, Jennifer Schmelter. \nBring folding chairs or large blankets. Pre-Concert entertainment featuring the HCB Brass Quintet will begin at 6:45PM. HCB Concert begins at 8:00PM. DESCRIPTION:Long Island Dance Consortium presents “A CELEBRATION OF DANCE 1” featuring The Red Hot Mamas\, a unique group of senior tap dancers\, who will perform with their usual sophistication and vivacity and the brilliant dancers of Long Island Academy of Dance Arts who will showcase their sensational virtuosity and cutting-edge choreography. The Dance Theatre Company will bring their upbeat style of Broadway jazz to the stage and Ohana Mokuloa will present traditional and breathtaking Hawaiian and Polynesian dances. The winners of the Rea Jacobs Dance Scholarship and the Sandi Bloomberg Dance Scholarship will perform exciting solos. A show that will delight you and make you smile!
