SUMMARY:Artist Member Jo Wadler presents Enameling with Stencils: Expanding Your Enamel Designs Workshop
DESCRIPTION:Enameling with Stencils:\nExpanding Your Enamel Designs Workshop \nReady to take your enameling a step further? This class is the next in a series to learn another technique with vitreous enamels. You will learn to explore a new way to create patterns and images on copper using stencils (cut paper\, ripped paper\, etc). If you missed the class on enameling with rubber stamps no worries you can jump right in with this technique and no prior experience is required. \nYou will learn how to prepare your copper disc (blank) and use stencils with powdered glass (vitreous enamels) too create shapes\, layered patterns\, and interesting surface designs. We will experiment with applying different colored layers of enamel to create unique effects.\nThis is an opportunity to experiment\, play with color and pattern\, and develop your own personal style. Bring your ideas and imagination as we explore new possibilities with vitreous enamel. Warning: enameling can be addictive!

SUMMARY:William Low - Light Remembered at Gallery North\, Setauket
DESCRIPTION:Exhibition Dates\nJuly 16 – August 23\, 2026\nOpening Reception\nThursday\, July 16\, 2026\n6:00 PM – 8:00 PM \nGallery North is pleased to present Light Remembered\, William Low’s first solo exhibition at Gallery North features small and large scale oil paintings. From the seaside suburbia of Long Island and Cape Cod to the bustling urban cityscapes of Hong Kong and New York City\, Low transports viewers by combining his modern approach to composition and a classical handling of light. Low relies on his perceptive memory whether it’s guided by the radiant glow of light reflected by monumental skyscrapers or the glimmers that dance through the leaves along a tree lined street. The viewer’s own experiences are recalled through Low’s captured energy of the passing moment and the sensations of being present in these vastly different environments. \nBorn in New York City\, Low received his BFA from Parsons School of Design in Manhattan\, NY and his MA at Syracuse University. Clients and commissions for his work include US Postal Service Stamp Designs\, The New York Daily News Sunday Magazine\, The New York Times and MTA Arts & Design program. Low’s paintings are in numerous permanent collections including Houston’s Restaurants Nationwide\, Reading Public Museum and Rosewood Hotel Hong Kong. Exhibitions include Museum of the City of New York’s\, This Is New York: 100 Years of the City in Art and Pop Culture 2024\, and The Heckscher Museum of Art’s Long Island Biennial 2026. Low is a professor at the Fashion Institute of Technology. He is currently based in Huntington\, NY.

DESCRIPTION:Instructor: Jo Wadler \nFriday\, March 13\, 6:00pm – 9:00pm \n$100 all materials included \nIf you ever wondered\, dreamed or wanted to experiment with vitreous enamels (fine powered glass) and haven’t had the opportunity\, this class is for you. You will learn how to clean and prepare your copper blanks to allow the enamel to adhere to the copper. You will learn how to sift the enamel on your metal blank. We will trouble shoot along the way as you learn how to use rubber stamps to embellish and pattern your copper blanks. Come an explore the many possibilities this art form can create for you. Warning it can be addicting. \nJo Wadler was a featured enamel artist n the September/October 2016 issue of Lapidary Journal Jewelry Artist. She introduced an innovative technique of combing enameling and rubber stamping. With over 20 years of enameling experience\, Jo emphasizes the creative freedom that her method offers\, allowing artists to explore different textures as well as using bought and creating your own stamps to use in a unique way. \n\n
