2020 Huntington Summer of Hope Festival
We will be announcing the remainder of the performances for the Huntington Summer of Hope Festival on a weekly basis. Please note NOT all of the shows take place at the CHAPIN Rainbow Stage, Heckscher Park, Huntington. ALL shows however, will be presented on facebook LIVE. Details on how to view the performances are in the program descriptions listed below.

JULY 31 – AUGUST 6
FRIDAY, JULY 31, 8:00 PM
L.I. Dance Consortium
LIDC presents a delightful evening of dance from five talented dance companies: American Dance Theatre of Long Island; Stars of Tomorrow; North Shore Dance; Long Island Ballet Theatre; and The Red Hot Mamas. Also featured will be Emily Gershowitz the Rea Jacobs Dance Scholarship winner and Tyler Phelan the Sandi Bloomberg Scholarship winner. Each of will each perform exciting solos.
SATURDAY, AUGUST 1, 8:00 PM
Jazz Loft ALL STARS
Jazz impresario and cornetist Tom Manuel will appear with the Jazz Loft All Stars, a lineup consisting of some of New York’s top Jazz talent. In the ensemble are: Rich Iacona, piano, Chris Smith, drums, Steve Salerno, guitar, Chris Donohue, saxophone, and Peter Coco, bass. Manuel and his crew will be presenting a mix of traditional Jazz ala Norman Granz and the Jazz at the Philharmonic concerts of the 1950s.

Join Orchestra Long Island Music Director & Conductor David Stewart Wiley as host and keyboard player, for part I of a III part special of online performances (part II 8/9 & part III 8/16). Each performance focuses on a different orchestral section of wonderful professionals: Part I features brass & percussion. The performances include favorites by Mozart, J.S. Bach, Wiley, Debussy, Dvorak, Lane, and others. Maestro Wiley gives background on the selections, plays pre-performance examples and joins his musical colleagues in this online event.

Long Island’s Tim Kubart has been on a never ending tour playing concerts for kids and families at venues like The Kennedy Center, and Lollapalooza. Tim’s work for SESAME STREET, includes “We Can All Be Friends”, the introductory song for Julia, the first muppet with autism. He won the 2016 GRAMMY Award for Best Children’s Album.
WEDNESDAY, AUGUST 5, 8:00 PM
NCJO’s goal is to bring music to all members of our community and families. Large and small events, NCJO’s purpose is to be an influence as well as impact listeners young and old. The Quintet performing at the “Summer of Hope” Festival is an extension of our group where during these times, many are not available to participate; this is a way for us to work with our Band family and make an impact on others.
THURSDAY, AUGUST 6, 8:00 PM
Kirsten Maxwell is a singer, songwriter, and artist, raised between Sunnyside, Queens and Huntington, Long Island. She was most recently found opening for Judy Collins on her 2020 Winter tour. Although their engagements were cut short, Maxwell looks forward to working with the iconic folk artist again in the future. She is also working on a new album.

Joining us will be Huntington Town Supervisor, Chad A. Lupinacci to share a welcome statement and honor Dr. Fitterman and the front line workers from Huntington Hospital.

Tom Chapin and his daughters Abigail and Lily join us to open the SUMMER OF HOPE Festival. A career spanning six decades, 26 albums & three Grammy ® awards, Tom Chapin is a multi-talented singer, songwriter, guitarist, and brother of legendary Harry Chapin. Abigail & Lily carry on the Chapin Family tradition forging their own distinctive musical imprint with their dynamically complex vocal harmonies and folk-influenced melodies.

Maxim Lando, piano, and Eli Goldberger, clarinet, are two superbly talented emerging artists who are preforming on the Chapin Rainbow Stage for the first time. Both young artists have gained national and international acclaim and are multiple award winners in prestigious competitions. Experienced Alumni of the Oyster Bay Music Festival, they will amaze you with their amazing virtuosity in a classical crossover program.
