SUMMARY:Explore The Possible: Strengthen Your Creative Self Through Improv
DESCRIPTION:ONLINE CLASS SERIES As with any possible thing we want to develop or build in our lives\, having tools and skills we can put to use increases the likelihood we will take action toward our goals\, use our voice\, and create collaborative relationships that support our dreams. Expert improviser and trainer Robert Poynton describes improv as a way to “act ourselves into a new way of thinking.” It is an art form that taps into a creative mind set from the start\, by providing tools and skills for interacting within a structure that provides an opportunity to take risks and strengthen the psychological “muscle” for navigating uncertainty. Positive\, encouraging support is part of the improv ethos\, which empowers us for full engagement with the creative process. \nThis class series will focus on improv tools and techniques that tap into creativity in a positive\, encouraging way\, and expand the field of possibility. We will play with exercises founded on the radical agreement and attunement that allows us to go further “off-script” and embrace the unusual enough to drive scenes bravely into the unknown. When we expand into creative freedom with others in an improv format\, we develop skills that translate into writing\, painting\, acting or other expressive art form as well as dealing with real life stresses and relationships.  \nInstructor: Jude Treder-Wolff\, LCSW\, CGP CPAI is a creative arts therapist\, improviser\, applied improviser\, storyteller and storytelling coach who offers improvisation and storytelling classes through Lifestage\, Inc.  and host of the Improv In Real Life podcast. She completed the improvisation programs at The Peoples Improv Theater and The Magnet Theater in NYC\, was on a Magnet Theater house team and is currently on the NYC-based independent team Submarine World. She is very active in applying improvisation skills\, practices and philosophy to personal and professional development and works with groups and organizations and communities in New York and around the country.

DESCRIPTION:Enameling with Stencils:\nExpanding Your Enamel Designs Workshop \nReady to take your enameling a step further? This class is the next in a series to learn another technique with vitreous enamels. You will learn to explore a new way to create patterns and images on copper using stencils (cut paper\, ripped paper\, etc). If you missed the class on enameling with rubber stamps no worries you can jump right in with this technique and no prior experience is required. \nYou will learn how to prepare your copper disc (blank) and use stencils with powdered glass (vitreous enamels) too create shapes\, layered patterns\, and interesting surface designs. We will experiment with applying different colored layers of enamel to create unique effects.\nThis is an opportunity to experiment\, play with color and pattern\, and develop your own personal style. Bring your ideas and imagination as we explore new possibilities with vitreous enamel. Warning: enameling can be addictive!

DESCRIPTION:Join sculptor and fiber artist Sherry Davis for “United We Weave: Community Weave-In” — a patriotic collaborative project where participants will help weave a large American flag made from repurposed fire hose. \nDavis is best known for “Harvesting Memories in Blue”\, the iconic 12-foot geodesic denim sphere that was displayed on Sound Avenue in Riverhead. \nVisitors of all ages are warmly invited to help weave the flag and attach their personal messages — creating a living tribute woven together by the community. \nYou can also learn about her upcoming major public sculpture\, “Grateful Turnout”\, (which has been supported by a grant from the New York State Council on the Arts). This work\, created using repurposed first responder gear\, honors firefighters and first responders. SUMMARY:Heckscher Museum of Art presents Central Park's Bethesda Fountain Visits Heckscher Park Through Immersive AR Experience
DESCRIPTION:The Heckscher Museum of Art\, in partnership with the Central Park Conservancy—the nonprofit organization that manages Central Park—brings Emma Stebbins’ iconic Bethesda Fountain to life in Heckscher Park\, Huntington\, through an Augmented Reality (AR) experience. Visitors will be able to use their smartphones to experience the full monument in this new setting. The immersive experience will allow visitors to look thoughtfully at Stebbins’s magnificent work as they take a 360-degree virtual walk around the entire monument. This one-of-a kind event coincides with the seminal exhibition\, Emma Stebbins: Carving Out History.\nThe exhibition devotes a gallery to exploring the central role the Bethesda Fountain has played serving as a convening space\, cultural hub\, cinematic icon\, beacon for tourists\, and inspiration to other artists\, like Tony Kushner\, who placed the Bethesda Fountain at the center of his Pulitzer Prize winning play Angels in America\, and who wrote a foreword for the exhibition catalogue. After visiting the exhibition\, visitors will be able to experience the spectacular monument just a few feet outside the Museum doors.\nFor the best AR viewing\, visitors can use the QR codes easily accessible on Museum signage in areas in front of the Museum in Heckscher Park. Some of the stories include subtle little lies. The audience gets to question the storytellers\, who do not have to answer honestly\, just to make the game even more fun\, then votes for the person they think told it completely straight.
