DESCRIPTION:Reel Jazz – Presented with Jazz at the Barn\nWHERE JAZZ BECAME LEGEND: REMEMBERING SONNY’S PLACE\nA special afternoon of live music\, storytelling\, and jazz history. \nStep back into the golden era of Long Island jazz and celebrate the legendary Sonny’s Place\, the intimate 68-seat club on Merrick Road in Seaford that became a home for some of the greatest names in jazz.\nOwned and operated by Sonny Meyerowitz\, Sonny’s Place was a musical landmark from the 1970s through the 1990s. The small room welcomed jazz giants like Count Basie\, Billy Eckstine\, and Sarah Vaughan\, while also nurturing the vibrant community of local musicians who helped shape Long Island’s jazz scene.\nDecades later\, its legacy still resonates.  \nJazz at the Barn\, inspired by the spirit of Sonny’s Place\, continues that tradition of honoring jazz and the artists who keep it thriving.
