DESCRIPTION:Despina Zografos’ Solo Art Exhibition consisting of works constructed from layers of hand cut paper and having as inspiration laces\, crochet and embroideries. An opening reception will take place on Thursday June 4\, 2026\, 5-7pm and a “Meet the Artist” event will take place on Wednesday June 10\, 2026. 5-7pm. During the “Meet the Artist” event\, a selection of photocopies of artist’s designs and markers will be provided. The participants will be encouraged to chose one design and perform one or combination of the following actions. 1. Color the design with a color combination of your choice. 2. Write around the design a phrase meaningful to you. 3. Write a short text about a memory meaningful to you in relation to laces\, crochet of embroideries.

Working in bold scale and vivid detail\, she layers pigments to capture not just what flowers look like\, but what they feel like\, blending abstraction and realism into luminous paintings that pulse with life and color. DESCRIPTION:My intention is always to create an unexpected depiction of the subject\, a colorful interpretation\, not a literal translation. I enjoy using this unusual color palette to bring you into the painting and though\, you may have been seen that place before\, you feel you are looking at it for the very first time. A humble subject is suddenly worthy of careful notice because of the unexpected depiction\, \nThis workshop will focus on the art of the portrait. I will demo – the very heart of learning – give individual help and constructive critiques. Materials are chosen to give artists the maximum chance of success with these techniques. I SO enjoy teaching my watercolor techniques\, theories and joy with all of my students. It is my hope that you find enjoyment in interpreting your world with paint\, splatters\, drips and color by embracing the unexpected and unplanned that only a watercolor can give you!

DESCRIPTION:Join Jan for a week of art instruction\, dining\, touring\, and exploring as we paint our way around Tuscany. Our focus will be on our beautiful surroundings interpreting the landscape and simplifying to achieve fun and exciting paintings. Each day will be a demonstration with a guided discussion of composition\, where to place your focus\, colors best to use and why\, watercolor techniques all while holding onto and growing your own personal style – learn to be fearless. \nWatercolors may feel intimidating at first. To be successful\, you need to know how to control and give up control all at the same time. It should look and feel effortless—yet it takes an understanding of the medium. \nIn this week long workshop with artist and educator Jan Guarino\, explore one of the most important aspects of this medium—the element of surprise that happens when you get out of the way and allow the paint to move in water. Jan says that watercolor is all about how the paint flows and what happens in its wake. Deciding to control it or allow it takes time\, patience\, and practice. \nThis workshop will be centered around not just documenting a space in time\, but interpreting the essence of the land. By studying the light\, students will develop a greater understanding of their own painting knowledge\, building skills they can develop in the field and take on future adventures forever. We will also be sure to take time each day to explore the towns\, the wine and foods and all the area has to offer.

Joined by guest pianist Aglaia Savalas Messina\, flutists Claudia Beeby\,\nJennifer Haley\, Leslie Strait\, and Jerene Weitman present a delightful afternoon of light\nclassics and favorite gems of the flute ensemble repertoire. In addition to selections\nperformed on traditional C flutes\, the silvery brightness of the piccolo and the velvet\ntones of the alto and bass flutes add the depth of the entire flute family to the program. SUMMARY:Dance Visions NY and the Friends of Cedarmere present Tuffets and Tricksters
DESCRIPTION:Dance Visions NY presents “Tuffets and Tricksters\,” a new site-specific program for Cedarmere\, with a thematic focus inspired by the enduring lessons of fables\, parables\, nursery rhymes\, fairy tales\, and mythology. Across cultures and centuries\, these narrative forms have provided frameworks for grappling with ethical dilemmas\, personal responsibility\, power\, courage\, and compassion. We will artistically express how these foundational moral narratives resonate within contemporary challenges in an increasingly perilous world. Through dance works alongside song\, spoken word\, and visual art\, the program reinterprets these stories through a contemporary artistic lens allowing audiences to encounter these ideas viscerally and reflectively.
