DESCRIPTION:“Sit down awhile\, And let us once again assail your ears–” \nOur fourth annual Shakespeare in the Park! EastLine brings the windy shores of Denmark to Long Island with Shakespeare’s iconic story of family and betrayal. After he is visited by the ghost of his murdered father\, Prince Hamlet embarks on a revenge mission that will pit him against his own friends and family in his search for justice. Featuring live music and swordplay! \nScheduled performances are:\n6/15 – Mineola Memorial Library – 5PM\n6/20 – South Huntington Public Library – 6:30PM (rain date 6/27)\n6/22 – Hicksville Public Library – 2.30PM\n6/28 – Clark Botanic Garden\, Albertson – 6:30PM\n6/30 – Long Island Museum\, Stony Brook – 4PM\n7/06 – Huntington Summer Arts Festival\, Chapin Rainbow Stage\, Heckscher Park\, Huntington – 8PM\n7/20 – Northport Public Library – 2PM\n7/21 – Amityville Beach – 5PM\n7/28 – Amityville Beach – 5PM \nAll performances are free to audiences\, who should supply their own blankets or chairs. The cast features Kuan Hao Huang\, Megan Laguna\, Michelle Osojnak\, Kevin Rios\, Michael Sherwood\, Claire Sanderson\, Debbie Starker\, and Tom Williams. \nEastLine Theatre is a nonprofit theatre company that Fire Island News calls “one of the boldest\, bravest theatre companies on Long Island.” EastLine aims to create theatre in unlikely spaces while re-examining the canon\, exploring modern plays\, and bringing original works to the attention of the community. \nEastLine returns to the great outdoors for a fourth year of Shakespeare in the Park after tours of Romeo & Juliet\, The Two Gentlemen of Verona\, and The Merry Wives of Windsor. In recent years\, EastLine has produced Prospero (Live!)\, an original musical based on The Tempest; a sold out\, immersive Diary of Anne Frank\, a production of Treasure Island that BroadwayWorld said was “bursting at the seams with imagination”; and a production of In the Next Room by Sarah Ruhl that Long Island Theatre Scene said “raises the bar of creativity for all theaters.” EastLine’s season continues in August with the classic comedy Harvey\, by Mary Chase at the BACCA Arts Center in Lindenhurst.

Every performance exudes both professionalism and joy\, telling a story uplifted by a genuine love for music felt by everyone in the room. \nThursday\, June 27 4:30-5:30pm – Let the Music Begin at Raynham Hall Museum\nIn the intimate space of Raynham Hall Visitor’s Center\, Oyster Bay Music Festival opens the season with an hour-long teaser concert featuring beautiful vocal repertoire\, solo Bach on the violin\, a Rachmaninoff piano solo\, and the Zandieh Trio (three Juilliard trained brothers) performing a movement from the brilliant Arensky Trio.

The varied program includes Glinka’s emotional Trio Pathétique for bassoon\, clarinet\, and piano; dramatic opera arias from the popular OBMF Singers; music by Brahms\, Schumann\, and Fanny Mendelssohn; the Dutilleux Flute Sonatine; and Kreisler’s Tambourin Chinois played on the erhu.

DESCRIPTION:The beautiful Van Loen Art Gallery in the South Hunting Public Library will present a special exhibition called ‘VIRGIN FOREST – MAJESTY OF TREES’ by award-winning artist\, Linda Louis\, in honor of Earth’s vanishing forests.  The show consists of 16 triptychs\, in oils\, 48” x 40”\, four for each season of the year\, symbolizing forests in summer\, autumn\, Winter\, Spring. This work will be on view from Saturday\, June 29 through Friday\, August 30.  The artist’s reception will be on Saturday\, July 13 from 2 -4 pm.  A date for a talk by the artist will be announced.

Jan says that watercolor is all about how the paint flows and what happens in its wake. World-class performers – almost all in their twenties – include National Symphony Orchestra flutist and Long Island native Matthew Ross; French/Viennese bassist Marc-André\, who is redefining the possibilities of the bass and reaching millions of people through his innovative videos; German violinist Tassilo Probst\, who is making musical headlines throughout Europe; virtuoso bassoonist Eleni Katz\, who recently won the prestigious Concert Artist Guild Auditions; Soprano and activist Teddy Siegel\, founder of the infamous bathroom account Got2GoNYC; and celebrated pianist Maxim Lando\, who has been lauded by the New York Times for his “brilliance and infectious exuberance.” The concert will also feature the popular OBMF Singers\, additional prize-winning instrumentalists\, and an appearance from one of the few musical-saw masters remaining in the world\, Dale Stuckenbruck. Every performance exudes both professionalism and joy\, telling a story uplifted by a genuine love for music felt by everyone in the room. \nMonday\, July 1 7-9pm – Fantasia: A Musical Journey at Congregation L’Dor V’Dor\nA musical journey through time\, countries\, and musical styles – told through the voices of OBMF’s remarkable instrumentalists and singers. Performers for this concert include returning favorites such as the always popular OBMF Singers\, the Zandieh Trio\, violinist Michelle Stern\, and pianist Maxim Lando. In addition\, making their first appearance at the beautiful space of Congregation L’Dor V’Dor\, will be German violinist Tassilo Probst\, French/Viennese double bassist Marc André\, and American pianist Joshua Mhoon. While Probst is making a strong presence in Europe’s major concert halls\, Marc André is redefining the possibilities of the double bass\, reaching millions of people through social media. The gifted pianist Joshua Mhoon is a Steinway Young Artist and the Silver Medalist at the inaugural Nina Simone Piano Competition in 2023. The music featured will be an exciting and eclectic mix of vocal and instrumental music from the past few hundred years.

DESCRIPTION:Between June 27 through July 4\, the Oyster Bay Music Festival will present 12 completely different concert programs in 9 charming venues along the Gold Coast of Long Island. Each OBMF concert is a variety show featuring a diverse range of musical repertoire from a performing cast of around 25 musicians – including vocalists\, pianists\, strings and wind players. The talent pool includes world-class musicians with international reputations\, and local classical music stars. Every performance exudes both professionalism and joy\, telling a story uplifted by a genuine love for music felt by everyone in the room. \nTuesday\, July 2 7-9pm – Legends and Stories of Sound at Christ Church Oyster Bay\nAlways a favorite OBMF acoustic space\, this concert at Oyster Bay’s Christ Church will celebrate legendary composers\, the stories that pass-through generations of musicians\, and the mysteries of sound. Highlights of the concert include Tassilo Probst and Maxim Lando performing Ravel’s second Sonata for violin and piano\, the Zandieh Trio performing Rachmaninoff Elegiaque No. 1\, and dazzling vocal repertoire from the OBMF singers.
