SUMMARY:The Art Guild of Port Washington presents Still Life in Acrylic with Robert Brown
DESCRIPTION:Robert Brown will be providing an image to all the students that will be worked on during this workshop. A discussion of the objects and the relationship they have to one another\, positioning them on a particular surface\, where the light source is from\, etc. Students will then work on transferring the image to the watercolor paper\, using a light table provided by The Art Guild. Students will begin with painting the black & white under painting\, and finally adding the color glazes. After the finish I will also explain how to mount the paper to foam core board or other substrate.

SUMMARY:The Art Guild of Port Washington presents New Oriental Brush Stroke Painting
DESCRIPTION:This workshop will explore the modern ink-painting and its multiple layers of the meaning behind skills\, styles\, past traditions\, and new technical contexts through the teacher’s demonstrations\, students’ class practices\, artwork presentations and critiques. In these two-day sessions\, the instructor will introduce important key features in modern Oriental brushworks\, which consists of experimenting lines\, ink washes\, textures and special techniques to describe the shapes and characteristics of modern landscape and flower paintings. Classes often begin with a demonstration followed by time for individual practice and attention\, allowing students to learn at their own pace. Through hands-on practice and fearless experimentation\, this workshop aims to cultivate practical skills while instilling a sense of passion and vitality in every brushstroke. Participants will gain confidence in their artistic abilities as they engage with diverse techniques and unlock new dimensions of expression within the realm of ink painting.

Every performance exudes both professionalism and joy\, telling a story uplifted by a genuine love for music felt by everyone in the room. \nMonday\, July 1 7-9pm – Fantasia: A Musical Journey at Congregation L’Dor V’Dor\nA musical journey through time\, countries\, and musical styles – told through the voices of OBMF’s remarkable instrumentalists and singers. Performers for this concert include returning favorites such as the always popular OBMF Singers\, the Zandieh Trio\, violinist Michelle Stern\, and pianist Maxim Lando. In addition\, making their first appearance at the beautiful space of Congregation L’Dor V’Dor\, will be German violinist Tassilo Probst\, French/Viennese double bassist Marc André\, and American pianist Joshua Mhoon. While Probst is making a strong presence in Europe’s major concert halls\, Marc André is redefining the possibilities of the double bass\, reaching millions of people through social media. The gifted pianist Joshua Mhoon is a Steinway Young Artist and the Silver Medalist at the inaugural Nina Simone Piano Competition in 2023. The music featured will be an exciting and eclectic mix of vocal and instrumental music from the past few hundred years.

DESCRIPTION:Between June 27 through July 4\, the Oyster Bay Music Festival will present 12 completely different concert programs in 9 charming venues along the Gold Coast of Long Island. Each OBMF concert is a variety show featuring a diverse range of musical repertoire from a performing cast of around 25 musicians – including vocalists\, pianists\, strings and wind players. The talent pool includes world-class musicians with international reputations\, and local classical music stars. Every performance exudes both professionalism and joy\, telling a story uplifted by a genuine love for music felt by everyone in the room. \nFriday\, June 28 8pm – When Nature Calls – Hosted by Teddy Siegel at Hecksher Park\nTeddy Siegel\, dynamic soprano and creator of Got2Go joins with Oyster Bay Music Festival to present a\nconcert like none other. Together with a lineup of star musicians all in their twenties – including virtuoso\npianist Maxim Lando\, celebrated bassoonist Eleni Katz\, and National Symphony Orchestra flutist\nMatthew Ross – Teddy weaves together an evening of bathroom stories\, humor and great music. Featured\non the program will be selections from favorite Broadway musicals\, as well as music by Gershwin\,\nShostakovich\, Dvorak\, Mozart\, Bernstein\, and more.
