SUMMARY:Explore The Possible: Strengthen Your Creative Self Through Improv
DESCRIPTION:ONLINE CLASS SERIES As with any possible thing we want to develop or build in our lives\, having tools and skills we can put to use increases the likelihood we will take action toward our goals\, use our voice\, and create collaborative relationships that support our dreams. Expert improviser and trainer Robert Poynton describes improv as a way to “act ourselves into a new way of thinking.” It is an art form that taps into a creative mind set from the start\, by providing tools and skills for interacting within a structure that provides an opportunity to take risks and strengthen the psychological “muscle” for navigating uncertainty. Positive\, encouraging support is part of the improv ethos\, which empowers us for full engagement with the creative process. \nThis class series will focus on improv tools and techniques that tap into creativity in a positive\, encouraging way\, and expand the field of possibility. We will play with exercises founded on the radical agreement and attunement that allows us to go further “off-script” and embrace the unusual enough to drive scenes bravely into the unknown. When we expand into creative freedom with others in an improv format\, we develop skills that translate into writing\, painting\, acting or other expressive art form as well as dealing with real life stresses and relationships.  \nInstructor: Jude Treder-Wolff\, LCSW\, CGP CPAI is a creative arts therapist\, improviser\, applied improviser\, storyteller and storytelling coach who offers improvisation and storytelling classes through Lifestage\, Inc.  and host of the Improv In Real Life podcast. She completed the improvisation programs at The Peoples Improv Theater and The Magnet Theater in NYC\, was on a Magnet Theater house team and is currently on the NYC-based independent team Submarine World. She is very active in applying improvisation skills\, practices and philosophy to personal and professional development and works with groups and organizations and communities in New York and around the country.

DESCRIPTION:An original radio play performed luive on stage in the classic style of broadcasting’s Golden Age\, “Where There’s a Will …” is a comedy set in the mid-1950s\, when many of the stately mansions and estates of Long Island’s Gold Coast were being passed down to a younger generation. Stern old Aunt Dora\, who never married\, has died and left her estate and sizable fortune to her three young nieces and nephews — but to get it\, they must each scramble to make a major change in their lives. With millions at stake\, can they rise to the challenge and satisfy Aunt Dora’s quirky conditions by the deadline? \nJoin the fun and be part of the “studio audience” as a talented cast gives voice to more than two dozen vivid characters\, with live music and sound effects created right on stage. This class is the next in a series to learn another technique with vitreous enamels. You will learn to explore a new way to create patterns and images on copper using stencils (cut paper\, ripped paper\, etc). If you missed the class on enameling with rubber stamps no worries you can jump right in with this technique and no prior experience is required. \nYou will learn how to prepare your copper disc (blank) and use stencils with powdered glass (vitreous enamels) too create shapes\, layered patterns\, and interesting surface designs. We will experiment with applying different colored layers of enamel to create unique effects.\nThis is an opportunity to experiment\, play with color and pattern\, and develop your own personal style. DESCRIPTION:My intention is always to create an unexpected depiction of the subject\, a colorful interpretation\, not a literal translation. I enjoy using this unusual color palette to bring you into the painting and though\, you may have been seen that place before\, you feel you are looking at it for the very first time. A humble subject is suddenly worthy of careful notice because of the unexpected depiction.\nEach morning and afternoon we will work on different subject matter to build confidence. I will demo – the very heart of learning – give individual help and constructive critiques. Things we can paint can be florals\, landscapes\, seascapes\, animals\, etc that will build on all the previous days lessons. Materials are chosen to give artists the maximum chance of success with these techniques. I SO enjoy teaching my watercolor techniques\, theories and joy with all of my students. It is my hope that you find enjoyment in interpreting your world with paint\, splatters\, drips and color by embracing the unexpected and unplanned that only a watercolor can give you!

SUMMARY:Lifestage Inc presents (mostly) TRUE THINGS Storytelling Show
DESCRIPTION:(mostly) TRUE THINGS is a game wrapped in a storytelling show\, featuring true stories told by comedy-wrangling\, heartstrings-pulling storytellers from all walks of life\, who range from experienced award-winning performers to many who are entirely new to the experience of sharing a story onstage.\nThe game is this: all but one of the storytellers include carefully-crafted\, subtle little lies into their story. In Act 2\, the audience gets to question the storytellers – who can improvise their responses – then votes for the person they think told their story with no lies. Some improvised\, story-inspired music and songs written for the show by host/creator Jude Treder-Wolff are additional ingredients for a high-energy\, hilarious\, emotion-packed and entertaining show. There are prizes involved\, if you can believe a thing like that.\nThe theme for stories in this show is IT’S COMPLICATED.\nStories by:\nShoshana Rubin\, Emmy-winning television producer\, artist\nCarline Napolitano\, psychotherapist\, poet published in local anthologies\, including the International Women’s Writing Guild (IWWG) Something Inside So Strong\nCalvin Cato\, comic\, storyteller\, (RISK! The Story Collider) named by Timeout NY as one of the top “LGBTQ comics of color to watch”\nZachary Lennon-Simon\, filmmaker\, storyteller and union organizer\, who has performed at Magnet Theater\, Kraine Theater\, Improv Boston and others\nJude Treder-Wolff (host/producer) active in the national storytelling scene\, featured on PBS Stories From The Stage\, Generation Women at Joe’s Pub\, The Story Collider\, Story District in Washington\, D.C.
