SUMMARY:2026 Huntington Camera Club Student Opportunities
DESCRIPTION:April 28 – High School Competition Awards\nThe Huntington Camera Club has a long history of community outreach via multiple projects in our almost 60-year history. Recognizing local high school photography students has been a long tradition as we encourage artistic expression with creative and imaginative photography contests.\nStudents compete in several categories for recognition and awards. Since its inception\, the event has grown and regularly receives up to eight hundred submissions annually. Since the first competition\, the club has awarded well over $35\,000 in cash and prizes to many deserving students. The club is proud to shine a spotlight on the talents of these young photographers and their teachers. A competition of this nature is only possible because of the generosity of the local business community and club membership

SUMMARY:The Whaling Museum presents Beyond the Book: Travels with George
DESCRIPTION:Wed\, June 24 | Adults\n6:30 PM | Register to Save Your Spot\nTravels with George: In Search of Washington and his Legacy by Nathaniel Philbrick \nIn time for summer road trip season\, join us to discuss this unique blend of history book and travel narrative from the award-winning author of In the Heart of the Sea. In Travels with George\, Philbrick retraces Washington’s 1789 presidential tour through the loose and quarrelsome confederation of ex-colonies in an attempt to sell citizens on the new government and the idea of being “American.” Alongside his wife and dog\, Philbrick follows Washington from Mount Vernon to the new capital in New York and eventually out onto Long Island (and through Cold Spring Harbor) while considering how the nation’s early history is understood and commemorated today\, all while grappling with the moral tangle of Washington’s legacy. \nFree for museum members and library patrons of Cold Spring Harbor\, Huntington and South Huntington Libraries. $15 Non-Member \nThis event is part of our “Liberty at Sea” series—a new year long program commemorating the 250th anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence. Bring your passport to the program and get a passport stamp!

SUMMARY:Dance Visions NY and the Friends of Cedarmere present Tuffets and Tricksters
DESCRIPTION:Dance Visions NY presents “Tuffets and Tricksters\,” a new site-specific program for Cedarmere\, with a thematic focus inspired by the enduring lessons of fables\, parables\, nursery rhymes\, fairy tales\, and mythology. Across cultures and centuries\, these narrative forms have provided frameworks for grappling with ethical dilemmas\, personal responsibility\, power\, courage\, and compassion. We will artistically express how these foundational moral narratives resonate within contemporary challenges in an increasingly perilous world. Through dance works alongside song\, spoken word\, and visual art\, the program reinterprets these stories through a contemporary artistic lens allowing audiences to encounter these ideas viscerally and reflectively.
