On the 2nd Tuesday of the month we often have a guest instructor teaching either West Coast Swing or some other form of dance. DESCRIPTION:As part of Creative Performances “8 in Show\,” Dance Visions NY premieres Beth Jucovy’s new work\, “Insomnia.” 8 in Show dance series\, curated by Sangeeta Yesley\, features 8 dance companies each showcasing new 5 – 12 minute pieces. An expression of ease\, trust\, and surrender\, “Insomnia” offers a sanctuary amid today’s climate of tension\, egoism\, and greed. Conceived during a period of insomnia while listening to music for deep sleep\, two dancers embody a single organism that gradually unfolds into distinct\, harmonious forms. With dancers: Anne Parichon-Buoncore and Jared McAboy. The development of this work is supported by Long Island Grants for the Arts through funds provided by the Office the Governor and the New York State Legislature and administered by the Huntington Arts Council.

SUMMARY:Dance Visions NY and the Friends of Cedarmere present Tuffets and Tricksters
DESCRIPTION:Dance Visions NY presents “Tuffets and Tricksters\,” a new site-specific program for Cedarmere\, with a thematic focus inspired by the enduring lessons of fables\, parables\, nursery rhymes\, fairy tales\, and mythology. Across cultures and centuries\, these narrative forms have provided frameworks for grappling with ethical dilemmas\, personal responsibility\, power\, courage\, and compassion. We will artistically express how these foundational moral narratives resonate within contemporary challenges in an increasingly perilous world. Through dance works alongside song\, spoken word\, and visual art\, the program reinterprets these stories through a contemporary artistic lens allowing audiences to encounter these ideas viscerally and reflectively.
