SUMMARY:Jan Guarino presents Fearless Portraits in Watercolors
DESCRIPTION:Watercolor invites the unexpected and portraits can be tricky. In this workshop\, you’ll learn to embrace it\, work with the medium and turn it into something uniquely your own. \nThis workshop will focus on the art of the portrait—bringing expression\, character\, and life into your watercolor work.\nI’ll be demonstrating throughout the class—the very heart of how we learn—so you can see each step in action and understand the “why” behind every decision. \nYou’ll also receive individual guidance and constructive critiques to help you grow with clarity and confidence. \nI truly enjoy sharing my watercolor techniques\, theories\, and the joy of painting with my students. My hope is that you discover that same enjoyment—interpreting your world through paint\, color\, splatters\, and drips.

Through gently guided prompts\, participants will explore their unique creative voice using drawing and movement\, while contributing to collaborative works of art where every voice adds to the whole. \nThe experience begins with visual art explorations led by Janine McCray-Booker of Healing ArtTogether. SUMMARY:Jan Guarino presents Fearless Watercolors at Omega Institute
DESCRIPTION:This program is a culmination of ideas I’ve discovered and techniques I’ve adapted from years of classes and workshops. It’s all guided by one goal: to help you interpret your subject in a way that feels unique\, fresh\, and truly worthy of becoming a painting. \nWatercolor is unlike any other medium—it has a mind of its own. That unpredictability can cause artists to freeze up and try to control every movement. \nIn this workshop\, you’ll learn how to work with the paint instead of against it. \nYou’ll discover techniques that help you feel free while still holding onto detail—how to gain control when you need it\, make corrections with confidence\, and actually enjoy the process. \nWe’ll explore how to trust your instincts with color\, build strong contrast\, and let blossoms\, drips\, and splatters become part of your expression—not mistakes.\nYou’ll also learn what makes a great reference photo so you can set yourself up for your best possible painting from the very beginning.\nI’ll share practical tools and solutions you can take with you and integrate into your own work right away.\nWhether you’re a beginner or have years of experience\, this workshop will give you insight\, clarity\, and techniques you can continue to build on.\nCome create something that feels like yours

SUMMARY:Jan Guarino presents Fearless Watercolors at The Landgrove Inn
DESCRIPTION:My intention is always to create an unexpected depiction of the subject\, a colorful interpretation\, not a literal translation. I enjoy using this unusual color palette to bring you into the painting and though\, you may have been seen that place before\, you feel you are looking at it for the very first time. A humble subject is suddenly worthy of careful notice because of the unexpected depiction.\nEach morning and afternoon we will work on different subject matter to build confidence. I will demo – the very heart of learning – give individual help and constructive critiques. Things we can paint can be florals\, landscapes\, seascapes\, animals\, etc that will build on all the previous days lessons. Materials are chosen to give artists the maximum chance of success with these techniques. I SO enjoy teaching my watercolor techniques\, theories and joy with all of my students. It is my hope that you find enjoyment in interpreting your world with paint\, splatters\, drips and color by embracing the unexpected and unplanned that only a watercolor can give you!
