Well get ready to learn techniques that will allow you to feel free while holding onto detail\, gain control\, make corrections and have fun. AND we’ll be getting ready to paint scenes for our holiday cards too! \nIn these classes you will learn: 1) to use color wheel and avoid muddy paintings: 2) how to let watercolor paint do the work for you: 3) how to bridge the palette and why its so important; 4) to integrate your own style and creativity; 5) utilize the right colors to achieve movement & granulation; 6) to trust your instincts and allow blossoms\, drips and splatters to work for you … and the proper order in which to do it all. \nYou will receive my reference photo\, my contour drawing\, a live critique\, a recording of the class and my final painting to help you along. This is an interactive class\, not a webinar. You are able to ask questions and interact with me ~ it’s as close as we can get without being together.

DESCRIPTION:Watercolors have a reputation for being difficult. But watercolors can give you something as an artist that other media can’t—they do a great deal of the work for you. Unexpected results that can’t be repeated make each painting unique. You need to know how to control and give up control all at the same time. It should look and feel effortless—yet it takes an understanding of the medium. \nIn this workshop with award-winning artist and educator Jan Guarino\, explore one of the most important aspects of this medium—the element of surprise that happens when you get out of the way and allow the paint to move in water. Jan says that watercolor is all about how the paint flows and what happens in its wake. Deciding to control it or allow it takes time\, patience\, and practice. \nAs you relax and find ease in your body\, mind\, and soul through art\, you learn to: \nUnderstand how your paint will behave by embracing the beauty of watercolors\nControl brush strokes\nUnderstand color theory to avoid muddy results with color wheel\nCreate unique textures\nCorrect a watercolor with many different methods\nHave fun and so much more…. \nThe subjects we paint together will help us focus on the wonders of watercolors—things that we find in nature around the beautiful Omega campus.
