DESCRIPTION:Join sculptor and fiber artist Sherry Davis for “United We Weave: Community Weave-In” — a patriotic collaborative project where participants will help weave a large American flag made from repurposed fire hose. \nDavis is best known for “Harvesting Memories in Blue”\, the iconic 12-foot geodesic denim sphere that was displayed on Sound Avenue in Riverhead. \nVisitors of all ages are warmly invited to help weave the flag and attach their personal messages — creating a living tribute woven together by the community. \nYou can also learn about her upcoming major public sculpture\, “Grateful Turnout”\, (which has been supported by a grant from the New York State Council on the Arts). This work\, created using repurposed first responder gear\, honors firefighters and first responders.
