Tuesday, June 27 – “Madagascar” Performed by Plaza Theatrical Productions
Based on the smash DreamWorks animated motion picture, Madagascar – A Musical Adventure follows all of your favorite crack-a-lackin’ friends as they escape from New York’s Central Park Zoo and take an unexpected journey to the madcap world of King Julien’s Madagascar. Filled with outlandish characters, adventure galore and an upbeat score, Madagascar will leave audiences with no choice but to “Move It, Move It!”
Tuesday, July 4 – Monkey Monkey Music with Meredith LeVande
Best known for her music videos, Meredith LeVande can be seen in “Monkey Monkey Music,” broadcast multiple times a day on more than 100 public television stations. An educator/songwriter, Meredith began writing and performing songs that supported children’s natural curiosity and desire to learn. Her catchy tunes about bubbles and belly buttons, performed with joyful spirit by Meredith and her band, infuse preschool crowds with delighted energy.
Tuesday, July 11 – Oran Etkin’s “Timbalooloo”
Internationally renowned jazz and world music artist (and GRAMMY Winner!) Oran Etkin and his band take the audience on an interactive, musical journey around the world. His newest concert production “Sing Sing Sing – Benny Goodman in The Kingdom of Swing”, presents music from Etkin’s recent CD for adults, “What’s New? Reimagining Benny Goodman” in an engaging and child-friendly way.
Tuesday, July 18 – Jazz-A-Ma-Tazz
Hayes Greenfield brings his popular kid-focused jazz show to the outdoors! A producer, composer, saxophonist, filmmaker, bandleader, and educator – Hayes has been active on the New York City jazz scene since the late ‘70s. Jazz-A-Ma-Tazz, is an interactive show for young people that introduces jazz in a fun, unique, and participatory way.
Tuesday, July 25 – “Cinderella” Performed by BroadHollow Theatre Company
This timeless, “rags to riches” fairy tale will charm its way into your heart and remind audiences that dreams really can come true. Cinderella is endlessly mistreated by her wicked stepmother and stepsisters, and denied a chance to go to the royal ball. With a little help from her mice friends – and a lot of help from her Fairy Godmother – Cinderella goes to the ball, meets the Prince and falls in love!
Tuesday, August 1 – Music for Aardvarks
Based around musician composer David Weinstone’s original songs, rhythms, and chants, fusing elements of rock, blues, ballads, folk, jazz and pop, Music for Aardvarks songs reflect and celebrate the lives of children growing up today. The music is innovative, intelligent, and irresistibly appealing to both kids and their parents. Concerts incorporate singing, dancing, musical storytelling, instrumental jam sessions and more – an interactive musical experience for the whole family!
Tuesday, August 8 – Billy Jonas Band
Led by vocalist/guitarist/“industrial re-percussionist” Billy Jonas, the band features multi-part vocal harmonies, drums, bass, marimba, and audience-engaging choreography with Ashley Jo Farmer, Sherman Hoover, and Juan Holladay. The Billy Jonas Band was honored with a 2010 concert at The White House and Jonas has received numerous honors and awards, including an American Federation of Independent Musicians 1st place/Gold, multiple Parents Choice Golds, and a New York Times “Best” listing.
