Alexander Gordon is a landscape and night photographer. Gordon fell in love with Long Island at night and now travels extensively to photograph the world in the same way. He currently works for B&H Photo and lives in Brooklyn. You can find Gordon’s work at www.AlexanderGordon.nyc.
Margaret Henning’s journey with creating art began about 9-1/2 years ago. Influences come from water scenes, natural formations, and natural colors. Henning loves the free feel of using inks for scraping and mark making on canvas or paper to create abstract shapes and patterns. Using different mediums in her art, i.e., molding paste, handmade papers, glazing mediums help to bring her paintings to life.
Maxine Jurow one of our Harry and Sandy Chapin Legacy Award recipients this year, is an intuitive painter; there have been many evolutions in her work but it is always about color. Jurow has been inspired by trips to Australia, the Caribbean, Morocco, the Southwest and Long Island where she lives. Through memories of these places Jurow constructs essential, abstracted landscapes. Maxine works primarily with acrylic paint on a variety of surfaces canvas, wood panel and mylar, each yielding a different tactile experience. Pieces include elements of pastel or oil crayon as well, redefining surfaces, creating layers.
