JOURNEY Cultural Arts Workshops for Teachers-Following Beats, Identifying Patterns

November 9, 2016 @ 4:30 pm - 7:30 pm

Join us and Roderick L. Jackson from Palms Down Percussion as we study rhythms, dances, and instruments of multiple cultures, including those of Afro-Brazilian, West African, South African, Angolan, Korean, and Haitian origin. Attendees will see if they can follow instruction, discern between beat and tempo, learn ‘call & response’ techniques and discuss the learning connections for students in classroom or community group settings. Music, art and dance teachers. Special education, library sciences and anyone working with intermediate, Middle & high school students

Teachers from the following districts attend for free:  Cold Spring Harbor CSD, Commack UFSD, Harborfields CSD, Huntington UFSD, Northport/East Northport UFSD, Plainview/Old Bethpage CSD, and South Huntington UFSD
