Huntington Summer Arts Festival: Kaia Kater

July 15, 2018 @ 7:00 pm - 9:00 pm

Free

Born of African-Caribbean descent in Québec, Kaia Kater grew up between two musical worlds: Canadian folk, due to her family’s deep ties to it in their Toronto home, and Appalachian music, which she studied in West Virginia. Kater’s old-time banjo skills, jazz-fueled voice, and deft song craft have garnered acclaim from Rolling Stone, BBC Music, and No Depression. The singer/songwriter’s 2016 release, “Nine Pin”, won a Canadian Folk Music Award and sent her on an 18-month tour from Ireland to Iowa.

7pm: An enlightening and entertaining pre-concert “Conversation with the Artist”, featuring guest interviewer and President of Folk Music Society of Huntington Michael Kornfeld.

8pm: Kaia Kater performs.

Free!

Tonight’s show is sponsored by Mid Atlantic Arts Foundation.
