Huntington Arts Council’s Cultural Arts Workshops: “Hip-Hop – A Tool for Literacy”
October 18 @ 4:30 pm - 7:30 pm
Dr. Linda H. Humes is the chair of the education committee for the National Association of Black Storytellers. She is also the founder of Yaffa Cultural Arts Inc. and an adjunct lecturer at John Jay College, NY. In this workshop, participants will learn how to discern the positive and negative components of Hip Hop and how to provide tools of this powerful movement to motivate, educate and foster a closer relationship with young people. This program provides techniques for storytelling through voice and literature. The workshop is great for teachers of all discipline, but especially good for humanities, global studies, ELA, Civics, history and social studies.
Approved CTLE Sponsor. This series is a component of the Journey multicultural arts-in-education program.
