Cultural Arts Workshops for Teachers Announced for Fall 2016

The Huntington Arts Council announces Cultural Arts Workshops for Teachers – Fall 2016.   This series of workshops is part of the JOURNEY program and will run 4:30-7:30 pm – October 19, 26 and November 1, 9, 16.

The Huntington Arts Council established the JOURNEY program in 1985 as a means of integrating cultural arts into classroom curriculum. Journey is a multi-cultural arts-in-education program developed by the Huntington Arts Council in partnership with school districts. The goal of Journey is to foster the appreciation of cultural diversity through the arts.

Workshops are FREE for teachers in partner districts: Cold Spring Harbor, Commack, Harborfields, Huntington, Northport/East Northport, Plainview/Old, Bethpage &  South Huntington.

Presenters this year include,Nancy Richner, Museum Education Director of the Hofstra University Museum, Teaching artist Luana Haraguchi from Aloha Hulu, Artist Anu Annam, Roderick L. Jackson from Palms Down Percussion and environmental artist Tonito Valderrama.

There is a $30 fee per workshop for teachers from non-JOURNEY school district and interested community residents.
