
"Got Talent? Long Island" to Showcase Comedy, Theater, Song & More This Saturday Evening
HUNTINGTON, NY, 25 March 2009 - In just a few days, on Saturday, March 28, some of the best Long Island talent will compete for the "Got talent" title, with fabulous prizes, cash and a spot at the 2009 Huntington Summer Arts Festival. The audience will crown the "Got Talent?" Audience Choice winner at the end of the evening. Presented by the Huntington Arts Council, this fantastic evening of entertainment takes place at 8 p.m. at the Crest Hollow Country Club in Woodbury.
One of the finalists, singer/songwriter Stoosh, traveled to California to perform in the 2007 American Idol auditions. Twelve-year-old Wantagh resident Christopher Borger played young Simba in the National Tour of Disney's "Lion King" and has done voice-over work for Nickelodeon. Christine Holt, another singer/songwriter on the rise, is getting her Bachelors' degree at Berklee College of Music. This is just a partial listing of the high-caliber talent for the evening. The evening's MC is Fran Capo, comedian, voice-over artist and author who has appeared on over 250 TV shows.
The judges include Janette Barber, stand-up comic, winner of six Emmy awards and supervising producer and head writer of The Rosie O'Donnell Show and John Hampson, guitarist and vocalist for the Long Island rock band Nine Days. From radio, night show host Rob Rush of 94.3 WMJC will judge, along with WFUV's Sunday Breakfast host John Platt. Other judges include Donna McKenna, an established casting director and independent film producer with a seat on the board of the Long Island Film and Television Foundation, and Jill Nicolini, a model, actress and reality TV show participant who works for WPIX-TV.
This benefit for the Huntington Arts Council's Arts-in-Education program is also a benefit for the performing arts community, providing an opportunity for young and emerging artists to receive recognition.
