CONCESSION MANAGER
Huntington Summer Arts Festival
Job Description: The Concession Manager is responsible for the operation of concessions selling pre-packaged refreshments such as beverages, ice-cream, snacks and some non-food novelty items at the outdoor Summer Arts Festival taking place from mid-June to mid-August in Huntington’s Heckscher Park. He/She reports to the Program Director.
Essential Duties:
- Maintain efficient operation of the concession booth.
- Open/close cash register in accordance with Huntington Arts Council procedures.
- Serve customers in a friendly, professional and efficient manner.
- Supervise volunteer help at the concession booth.
- Keep the concession area visually pleasing, clean and safe for customers.
- Maintain and replenish inventory in accordance with Huntington Arts Council procedures.
- Organize/manage the display of inventory within the concession booth and its storage on the premises of the band-shell or at the office.
Requirements: Afternoon/evening availability Tuesday through Sunday; good sales and inventory keeping skills; ability to operate cash register; ability to work in a well-organized manner; good customer skills; ability to work well with volunteers; valid driver’s license; availability of car.
The hourly paid position includes a significant bonus for successful completion of the entire Festival season which runs Tuesdays through Sundays from June 20th through August 17th, 2008. No performance on Mondays. Starting and ending date of employment will be determined by the Program Director to allow for pre-Festival orientation as well as wrap-up at the close of the Festival. Hours are approximately 5pm to 10pm during each day of operation. Housing is not provided.
About the Huntington Summer Arts Festival: This outdoor festival runs six nights a week for eight weeks in Heckscher Park, presenting a mix of music, dance and theater performances by Long Island artists as well as national and international acts, free to the public. Huntington is located on the north shore of Long Island about 50 miles from New York City.
